Based on feedback from our growing community of organizers—including those running events beyond supported titles such as Star Wars: Unlimited, Magic: The Gathering, and Disney Lorcana—we’re revamping our requirements to better accommodate each organizer’s unique needs and ambitions.
What’s New? #
No Mandatory Use of Our Payment System for Smaller Tournaments
Organizers hosting tournaments with up to 128 players* will no longer be required to use the Melee entry fee system if they choose not to with no additional platform fees or extra overhead!
*In partnership with Fantasy Flight Games, Star Wars: Unlimited retailers that connect their Star Wars: Unlimited ID to their Melee.gg Organization account will be allowed to run Star Wars Unlimited tournaments larger than 128 players. Please contact us to enable this increase.
Streamlined Payment Fees
For any tournaments opting to collect fees through Melee:
- USD Transactions: 8.99%
- International Currency: 10.99%
No More Manual Enrollment Fees
Organizer entry fee reimbursements will no longer have fees deducted for players who are manually enrolled.

Our platform has been welcoming more organizers with diverse business operations. We want to eliminate any barrier—especially for smaller events—while still providing a robust infrastructure for larger, resource-intensive tournaments. This shift allows everyone to benefit from fair and flexible terms, supporting the growth of your events and our platform.

Question: I host tournaments for games not fully supported on Melee. Will I be forced to use Melee’s entry fee system for any of those games?
Answer: Not at all! If your event has 128 or fewer players, you can skip our payment system entirely if you choose to. Use whatever method works best for you, or opt into Melee’s tools for an extra layer of convenience if desired.
Question: What if I want to continue using Melee’s payment system for my tournaments?
Answer: You’re absolutely free to do so. We’ll simply apply the updated fees of 8.99% (USD) and 10.99% (international) to cover the costs of secure payment processing.
Question: What if I intended for my tournament to be under 128 players, but more showed up on the day of the event?
Answer: As previous Organizers ourselves, we understand. If you need to increase your player cap, contact us as soon as you can and we can work together to solve your issue.
Question: I usually run tournaments larger than 128 players. What should I do?
Answer: You will need to email us at Contact@Melee.gg. You will be required to use melee payment systems or sign a service agreement with us. This arrangement helps us guarantee the level of attention and support needed to ensure your event runs smoothly.
Question: Why are there different fees for USD vs. international currencies?
Answer: Exchange rates, processing complexities, and additional third-party fees can vary greatly between USD and international currencies. These separate rates allow us to maintain consistent, transparent costs for organizers around the globe.
