If the final rounds of your tournament have more than the expected number of byes (typically more than 1) this is likely due to having more rounds than expected for the number of players in the event. Sometimes this will cause the pairing algorithm to give multiple byes.
There are a few potential solutions but it is important for you to consider the guidelines set for you by the publisher of your game.
- You can leave the tournament paired with the multiple byes as this is a valid outcome.
- You can adjust the number of rounds to better fit the player count.
- This should be considered very early in the tournament and addressed with players and not done in the final rounds. Managing player expectations is important.
- For information on editing your tournament structure, please see the Edit Phases section of the Phases article.
- You can attempt to manually edit the matches.
- For more information on editing matches see Editing Pairings. (This should only be attempted if you are confident that the pairings you are creating are valid.)
